Compiled a 58-second video game trailer using footage of game play, musical motifs, and an altered text-to-speech voice.
Android voices provided by US English / Joey, and US English / Kimberly, from Text-to-MP3.
Background music based on “My Funeral” by Avery McKenzie from Another 24 Hours (2019).
Gameplay narration is derived from Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.
Spliced female voice taken from “Spawn of the Subhuman.” Dark Fantasy. NBC Radio, WKY, Oklahoma City, 27 Feb. 1942.
The time limit for submitting final game trailers was 1 minute!
Created a 2-minute introductory video consisting of 1950s-1980s footage of American sitcoms, news coverage, and computer motion graphics alongside spliced audio from similar backgrounds.
Video theme: the evolution of robotics alongside humans, central to Compound 77's focus on the theme "antiquated future."
Began with the audio to establish the narrative, then searched for accompanying footage online.
All audio and video is sourced from the Public Domain via the Internet Archive!
See ↳ Full Sources List for Compound 77 for a comprehensive list of all video and audio used in this video.
Android voice: US English / Kimberly, from Text-to-MP3.
Background music: “The Satanic Mass" by Anton Szandor LaVey (1968).
Background TV footage: The Phantom Creeps, directed by Ford Beebe and Saul A. Goodkind. Universal Pictures, 1939.
Human screaming and hand overlays: performed by Ed Slee.
"1 – A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm."
"2 – A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law."
"3 – A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law."
Created a 30-second game-ending video consisting of the repeating eye motif alongside a distorted cover of “My Funeral” by Avery McKenzie from Another 24 Hours (2019).
I found McKenzie's song when looking for music to accompany the jumpscare videos.
I really liked how simple yet haunting it was, so I became inspired to use it somehow in the game. I then adapted it into a minor key (A minor) for the game's trailer to match the adapted Frankenstein narration!
The cover features my vocals with a vocoder effect alongside distorted audio from the jumpscare videos.
